The addition of two methodically placed wings, which flank both sides of the original structure, includes a 1000 sf updated kitchen as well as a 500 sf master bath and dressing room. The entry point into the main home opens to a wide central hall spanning the depth of the structure. The immediate and tranquil views of the May River are seen and framed by an arched doorway located on the ���riverside��� of the home, originally the primary point of entry. The floors in the original structure are heart of pine and run the width of the home in a seamless fashion. Bead board makes up the ceiling material throughout the historic structure, with a height of twelve feet in each of the rooms. Located within are four fireplaces; one restored for safe log burning while the remaining three have been capped and outfitted for gas. Each mantel is unique with Carpenter Gothic design. The original long pocket windows are still in place and look out onto a deep covered front porch, where the prevailing breezes of the May River are a staple existence. The roof is constructed of 5-V galvanized metal. Many of the original Cyprus shutters were painstakingly restored and can still be found adorning the original antique glass-paned windows. The newly added master bath wing includes two walk-in closets as well as a double vanity sink. Within the master bath the focal point is the raised oversized jetted tub, with one of the most astounding waterfront vistas found along the banks of the May River. The unbridled wildlife, particularly the egrets, cranes and herons, often found sunning themselves along the riverbank, find sanctuary in the majestic live oaks and indigenous landscape setting that the gardens of The Pritchard House provide. The kitchen wing has a soaring cathedral ceiling and comes equipped with modern chef���s delights such as the Bosch gas operated cook top. The southern facing wall is comprised of window upon window, looking out across the deep riverfront lawn to the river and twenty-four hour deep-water access dock. The approximately 100' long dock was constructed and fortified with double the required amount of pilings and cross bracings and a covered sitting area found at the end of the dock is topped with a 5-V galvanized roof and dolphin weathervane. The May River provides boaters with not only the waterfront experience that exists along it���s banks, but direct access to the Intracoastal Waterway and Atlantic Ocean beyond. In 1910 a heart pine guesthouse was constructed on the property, containing a parlor with 2 bedrooms. All three rooms open onto the covered front porch. During the renovation process, the cottage was painstakingly moved to it���s current location and the addition of a quaint kitchen and full bathroom were included, offering the option of short term rental income, with which the current owner has seen remarkable success. The original kitchen house was also relocated and sits to one side of the oak covered circular driveway. This building currently serves as a wood working shop but could easily be converted into a variety of other uses.
