Our Leadership

Meet the management team! These movers and shakers help lead our dedicated staff in our commitment to helping you find your dream home and helping real estate professionals grow their business.

Doug Breaker - President and CEO

As President and Chief Executive Officer, Doug Breaker guides HomeFinder.com's strategic vision and its day-to-day operations. Doug's height and over the top personality make him a formidable character in the office. He often starts management team meetings with, "I don't know how to put this, but I'm kind of a big deal." Mr. Breaker (as he demands his employees call him) often lowers the chairs in conference rooms to make subordinates feel inferior. This need to control all situations stems from his tyrannical reign as founder of "Pickleofthemonth.com" - where he made his fame and fortune.

His previous work as the Director of Product Innovation at Orbitz.com, as well as managing products and writing code for Telution, taught him the importance of team morale. When Doug joined HomeFinder.com as VP of Product in 2008 he mandated that the product team wear matching outfits EACH AND EVERY day to remove all distractions and promote oneness in thought. In addition to same-dress codes, Doug also oversaw product management, reporting, design and marketing communications. Under his guidance, HomeFinder.com dramatically improved its product offerings and increased its organic web traffic tenfold.

Doug is an alumnus of Bradley University, where he earned a B.S. in Business Computer Systems. He resides in Wilmette, IL, with his wife Mandy and their four young children (including twin babies!). He also demands his children call him Mr. Breaker and spends his time off training them to one day revive the now dormant Pickleofthemonth.com enterprise.

What Type of House am I?

If I were a house, what type would I be?

Well, my current house with a bunch more work done to it. We moved into a 1892 brick foursquare in desperate need of updating (think rewiring the whole house, replacing the main structural beam, and gutting the kitchen for starters), and survived the renovations to date. I love old stone and brick, and the soul of buildings built over a century ago. Combine that old soul with a great kitchen, and a healthy dose of modern amenities like, say a master bathroom, and you have my perfection.

Mark Tepper - Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing

Mark credits his two decades of success in sales and business development to three things: (1) an ability to innovate and embrace new technology; (2) a honed skill set to read people (3) talent for closing the deal and the bar tab in the same five minutes. Strategy, development and operations of the online real estate business at HomeFinder.com is only a small component of Mark's responsibilities as Senior VP of Sales and Marketing. He is also in charge of all office pranks and birthday embarrassments, as well as an enthusiastic participant in all 'Movember' fundraisers.

Mark has spent more than 10 years working in the real estate technology space for companies including Bamboo.com Virtual Tour Company, iPix, Connecting Neighbors, Reply, Inc., and now HomeFinder.com. Over the years, he has successfully built, trained and managed remote sales and account management teams. Each of those teams has pledged their undying support and loyalty to Mark, vowing to follow him from position to position like lost puppies. As a frequent speaker at industry events, featuring topics such as MLS syndication, online marketing and more, Mark draws crowds from all of the world.

He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Philosophy from the University of Pennsylvania and lives in Chicago, IL, with his wife, Kim, and their two sons. His boys have declared him the "World's Best Dad" which is the title he demands be put on both his business cards and all name tags at corporate functions.

What Type of House am I?

What style of house am I?

I'm a city dweller and love the excitement and energy that comes with it. But when I'm home, I'd like to have the feeling of space and tranquility. My house would be very open and give the appearance of more space than there actually is. It would be comfortable like a cozy worn-in sofa with a rooftop sport court for my boys to release their energy. My wife is an Interior Designer/Furniture Store Owner so I'm sure she will be able to create the cozy home I dream of.

Greg Johnson - Vice President of Product Development

When Greg isn't conceptualizing new products and attempting to improve upon HomeFinder.com's existing suite of leading industry offerings, he can be found indulging in a Belgian ale accompanied by a fried bologna sandwich from one of Chicago's local craft diners. Greg almost didn't take the job at HomeFinder.com until he learned that the office kegerator was fueled by a varied assortment of local craft beers. Greg balances his love of high caloric gastronomic delights and artfully crafted beers through his rigorous multi-sport endurance training regime...his first Ironman 70.3 is on the 2013 race calendar.

Greg draws focus and inspiration from his Zen-like endurance training as he oversees HomeFinder.com's product vision and delivery, including all B2B, B2C and mobile product offerings. Most recently the Vice President of Product at HighGround Enterprise Solutions, Inc., he led the development and vision of the company's next generation employee rewards and recognition platform. Previously, Greg was Vice President of Technology and Marketing at Lightbank-backed startup, Fooda Inc., where he led the company's product and marketing initiatives. Prior to his latest efforts with Chicago-based early stage ventures, he was Vice President, Digital Ventures with Playboy Enterprises, Inc., where he launched a number of high profile social and mobile products and services around the world.

Greg attended DePaul University in Chicago prior to joining his first technology venture. He currently lives in Evanston, IL with his wife Diane and two beautiful and energetic sons.

Living in Evanston (a Northern suburb bordering Chicago), we're very fortunate to be surrounded by an eclectic assortment of English style architecture - from classic English Tudors to weeping mortar cottages. I definitely relate to the distinct character, unique style and charm of each house, especially when framed by a wild English garden. The interior would be filled with dark wood, exposed brick and a modern adaptation of classic architectural detail and furnishings...a warm and welcoming interior where everyone is at home.

Shannon Cullins - Vice President of MovingCompanyReviews.com

To say that Shannon is an overachiever would be an understatement. She is typically the first person in the office and often changes clothes in order to run the 5 miles home from work. Her co-workers will often arrive late and eat donuts in her presence just to spite her.

With more than 10 years digital experience, Shannon thrives on the high paced digital space. She spent the first portion of her career leading Account Management teams, primarily at Q Interactive, an online marketing services company focused on lead generation. Prior to joining HomeFinder.com, Shannon was VP of Product Management at Viewpoints Network, where she helped lead a major site redesign and infrastructure update for the product reviews site, Viewpoints.com.

Shannon is currently responsible for the product vision and product delivery at HomeFinder.com. She is also in charge of product buying for re-desigining her home. As a DIY-er, Shannon will proudly show off her workmanship in the form of hand-sewn drapes and refinished furniture. Leading Product at HomeFinder.com gives her the perfect excuse to browse dream homes in the name of "market research."

Shannon graduated with distinction (shocking) from Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio. She lives with her husband and toddler son in the Wicker Park neighborhood of Chicago.

What style of house am I?

My house style is "comfortable modern": clean, modern lines without being cold and impersonal. Similar to product design, my house would be the perfect meld of function and design. Our actual home is an 1890's city 2-flat, gut-rehabbed and modernized but with gorgeous historic details (still requiring some of that DIY work before becoming a true dream house).

Stephen Page - Vice President of Operations

Since early childhood, Stephen's been obsessed with improvement, trying to make virtually everything "better." So far, he's found that slot cars go faster with the rubber wheels turned inside out, fastballs sink with a subtle shift in finger pressure, all recipes are better with more garlic and bathrooms are better after really cool shower renovations. He's convinced he knows how to make the Cubs and Bears better too, and longs for the day when he can transform them into perennial winners.

He figures his 20+year career transforming teams into highly effective, customer-focused organizations qualifies him for the job. After graduating with a BS in Accounting from Bradley University, he began his career counting beans and collecting money for Komatsu Dresser Company. That led to stints in Total Quality Management and TransUnion, where he developed his passion for operational excellence.

As HomeFinder.com VP of Operations, these days he's focused on leading the Data Operations, Client Service, Fulfillment and Ad Operations teams toward continuous progress. At least until the Cubs or Bears come calling...

My dream house would be an old white church - steeple, stained glass windows and all. The interior would be completely renovated with a large industrial kitchen, sound-proof home theater, stone fireplace in every room, huge closets and a master bath with heated floors, a steam shower, sauna and soaker tub. The latest technology would be everywhere. Fill it all with Early-American primitive antiques and a few big screens and we're done. And a go-kart track, practice green and driving range overlooking 5 acres wouldn't exactly hurt.

Nathan Spoonts - Vice President of Technology

Nathan has earned the name "fire starter" for his never ending quest to challenge his taste buds to see just how much heat they can handle. This fire breathing extends beyond his food choices; many a developer has been burned by Nathan's demands that they code while blindfolded and listening to yoga chanting. Namaste.

As the Vice President of Technology at HomeFinder.com, Nathan drives HomeFinder.com's overall technology strategy, which encompasses software engineering, infrastructure, architecture and analysis, QA, and technical operations. Nathan has also morphed into the offices' newest fashion icon. Because of his extensive collection of 'skull t-shirt a day' he rarely repeats outfits and often sneers at those who fail to properly rotate their off season garb.

Nathan has been a leader in the technology industry for the past 16+ years. He comes to HomeFinder.com most recently from Cars.com, where he was the Director of Development. In that role, he established and led the company's technical direction using innovative technology to drive business. Under his lead, a team of architects and engineers were able to develop the best technical design, approach, and ultimate implementation of the company's successful site.

Nathan holds a Bachelor of Arts in Art History and a Master of Science in Computer Science from The University of Chicago in Chicago, IL.

Nathan and his wife live in an urban loft in Chicago's West Loop. He fears that very soon, he will become the protagonist in his own horror movie nightmare while being (gasp!) dragged to the suburbs.

What Type of House am I?

What style of house am I?

I love industrial living spaces with an eclectic style of furnishing. I currently live in a house that fits my style very well - a true loft in the West Loop. The building is an old warehouse built around the turn of the twentieth century. We have high ceilings, exposed brick walls and ductwork, a concrete ceiling and structural columns, and a huge open dining/living space. The brick walls are peppered with old handmade nails, and there's a nine-inch rain pipe running through our master bedroom that makes a relaxing sound during heavy storms (but also sweats and stains the carpet). I love the soul and rawness of industrial lofts and the sense of history with which they are imbued. My wife is a big fan of mid-century modern ranch style homes. Although I really hate to think about it, I imagine that we will probably end up in the suburbs someday (as long as we're not too far from the city center).

Cassie Bertram - Director of Finance

A lover of puzzles and clear-cut solutions, Cassie dives into both everyday by planning, directing and overseeing the financial activities and forecasts for future business growth as the Director of Finance and a licensed CPA. A fixture since 2009, Cassie is also a HomeFinder.com Fun Committee officer and trusty bringer of baked goods.

Prior to HomeFinder.com, she has enjoyed stints as a financial analyst in various accounting positions at Midway Games and the Audit Bureau of Circulations, where she developed a strong finance skillset. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and Spanish from Winona State University in Minnesota, but is an avid Chicago White Sox and Bears fan. A self-proclaimed "tourist in my own city," Cassie is also a challenge enthusiast, tackling yoga, half marathons and skydiving on the weekends.

What Type of House am I?

What style of house am I?

I appreciate Frank Lloyd Wright architecture, but my ideal house style is more of a feeling than a structure. If I was a house, I'd be open and airy with lots of natural light and filled with laughter and good memories shared with friends and family. But I wouldn't mind an open floor plan and modern kitchen either!

Aimee Heilbrunn - Director of Marketing

Aimee is an avid traveler, runner, dog enthusiast (her furry "child" Gus, can testify), volunteer extraordinaire and champion of the green scene (oh, and she likes babies and old people too). Aimee brings this same cultivated moxie to the HomeFinder.com Senior Management Team, as the Director of Marketing.

As Director of Marketing at HomeFinder.com, Aimee oversees all of the company's marketing efforts, including lead generation, content marketing, public relations and social media. Aimee also oversees HomeFinder.com's recruitment efforts, focused on finding and retaining Chicago's top tech talent. Aimee has been know to share a personal story or two with potential hires including the one about how she has been at three of the most significant sporting events in Chicago history: (1) October 14, 2003: Chicago Cubs vs. Florida Marlins game (aka. 'Bartman Game'); (2) 2007 Chicago Marathon: the only one that was shut down due to heat; (3) December 23, 2007: Chicago Bears vs. Green Bay Packers, where it was so cold that the beer taps actually froze (the last one was the most upsetting to her).

Aimee brings a strong technology and entrepreneurial background to HomeFinder.com. She has previously led marketing groups at a number of Chicago startups and successfully founded and sold Ecoscene, Inc., an online publication that reviewed eco-friendly products and services. Prior to discovering her niche in Chicago's tech scene, she led marketing efforts at a number of national law firms and was an Adjunct Professor of Marketing at Columbia College in Chicago.

Aimee holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts in Public Communication from American University in Washington D.C. Aimee lives in a high-rise in Chicago's South Loop.

I'm currently searching for my dream home so I guess, like me, it would need to be open and modern but with a solid foundation and manageable flaws. A two-bedroom, two-bath in a six-unit building in Chicago's Bucktown/Wicker Park neighborhood would be perfect! Also, I've always dreamed of a glass enclosed rain shower....we'll see if that makes the list.
