About Massachusetts

Massachusetts is the forty-fourth largest state by area, with a population of 6,949,149 (U.S. Census Bureau, July 1, 2019). In 1773, a group of colonists boarded British East India Company ship and threw 92,000 pounds of tea overboard, which later became known as The Boston Tea Party and sparked the American Revolution. Subsequently, on the onset of the Revolutionary War, Paul Revere embarked on his "Midnight Ride" from Boston to Concord to warn colonists of the arrival of British Troops.
